Concrete Finisher

HGC is accepting resumes for the position of Concrete Finisher. A Concrete Finisher is an hourly skilled craft position that performs on construction projects any combination of the duties described more fully, below. A Concrete Finisher typically performs a wide variety of tasks, transferring from one task to another as the workflow dictates.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Smooth and finish surfaces concrete slabs to specified textures, using hand tools or power tools including floats, trowels and screeds.
  • Spread concrete to specified depth and workable consistency.
  • Level, smooth and shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete using straightedge, float, or power screed.
  • Finish concrete surfaces using power trowel.
  • Rub concrete with abrasive stone to finish.
  • Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces, using power grinder, chisel, or hammer.
  • Patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound material.
  • Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointer, or straight edge.
  • Add material to concrete to produce required finish.
  • Break up and repair old concrete surfaces.
  • Must be able to walk on rebar.
  • Perform incidental work items and duties included within other crafts.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Job requires ability to perform tasks on all areas and aspects of construction project. Requires ability to climb ladders for heights of up to 60 feet, and crawl for distances of 50 feet. Job requires ability to work with tools, lumber, and materials. Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs. for 50 feet is required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment may vary depending on work site.
